Next Page Ink Literary and Arts Magazine (; based in Dover, Delaware) is gathering submissions for its annual Young Writers and Artists Contest. Entrants are invited to submit poetry, short fiction, personal essays, visual art, and music on the theme “It Goes On,’’ inspired by this quotation, which is attributed to Robert Frost:


 "In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life: it goes on."


The Next Page Ink staff will be selecting first, second, and third place winners, who will receive the prizes of a VISA gift card worth $75, $50, and $25, respectively. Additionally, each Next Page Ink staff member will select an outstanding piece for a Judge’s Award.

All prize-winning pieces and other outstanding pieces will be published in the forthcoming issue of Next Page Ink, due out on April 21, 2022!

Contest Rules and Guidelines

  • Entrants must be currently enrolled high school students.

  • Entries must be submitted via email with an attachment to; include “Young Artists’ Contest Submission” in the email subject line.

  • Entrants may submit up to 5 pieces.

  • Only original work will be considered.

  • Simultaneous submissions are allowed.

  • If work is or has been accepted/published by another magazine or journal publication, please inform editors via email immediately so your work will cease to be under consideration.

  • Prizes will be mailed to contest winners via US mail, so entrants may include a mailing address with their submissions or provide it after being notified about the contest results.

  • Contest winners will be asked to provide a short biography for inclusion on our Contributors page.

Submission Categories


  • Length: up to two pages

  • File format: .doc or .pdf

Short fiction

  • Length: 500 to 3,500 words

  • File format: .doc or .pdf


  • Length: 250 to 750 words

  • File format: .doc or .pdf


  • Piece must have been composed by the entrant.

  • Length: no minimum, preferably no longer than 6 minutes

  • File format: .mp3


  • Accepted media: all visual media are welcome, including photography, paintings, drawings, and digital art.

  • Artwork depicting nudity or violence will NOT be considered.

  • File format: .jpg
